How Publicists Work
What Is a Publicist?
A publicist handles your press, interviews, media appearances, event bookings, social campaigns, and crisis management. They get your name in magazines, podcasts, and news outlets. Some charge monthly retainers, others charge per service.
Adding a Publicist
Click "+ Add Publicist" and enter their name, company, contact info, services they provide, and fee structure (monthly, per-service, or both). Upload their contract. They are automatically added to your Industry Contacts and Career Timeline.
Tracking Engagements
Every time your publicist does something for you (books an interview, sends a press release, coordinates an event), log it as an engagement. Each engagement can include the media outlet, URL, fee, and any connected posts/photos/videos. Fees automatically create expense transactions in Financial Hub.
What Connects Where
- Financial Hub: Every engagement fee creates an expense. Monthly retainers tracked separately.
- Filmography: Interviews about specific scenes or films linked to filmography entries.
- Feed: Posts coordinated by your publicist tagged to them.
- Industry Contacts: Publicist appears as a contact with full info, scene/engagement count.
- Career Timeline: "Hired publicist" and major press events appear on your timeline.
- Bookings: If your publicist books appearances or events, those show in Bookings too.
Tagging in Content
Your publicist can be tagged in income, expenses, events, posts, photos, and videos. This lets you see everything they have been involved in from their contact card.
For All User Types
Whether you are a performer, studio, strip club, or agent -- everyone can have a publicist. Studios track their PR team. Agents track publicists for their roster. Strip clubs track event promoters. The same features and settings apply to all user types.
